This week our CTO Semyon Semakov has attended GDD09 Russia. The conference was great, there were a lot of interesting presentations. Many people have taken part and many curious ideas have been put forward. Google developers talked about Wave API, APP Engine, Chrome extensions, GWT and other issues.

Semyon presented in Android section with Reto Mayer. He talked about Android applications and our experience in VoIP development for Android. He was exited to present to such large audience and his speech was successful and generated many interesting discussions afterwards.

Semyon’s presentation consisted of two parts.

Android NDK and JNI use, in which he talked about:

-          building and debugging of  C++ code on Android

-          problems with non-NDK library usage

Creation of VoIP application on Android platform, in which he talked about:

-          interaction with Dialer and native call-card

-          details of synced use of GSM and  VoIP

-          sending and receiving sound over network, choice of codec and balance between quality of sound and bandwidth.
